TORONTO–To commemorate the 106th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence, the Philippine Consulate General is inviting fellow kababayans to its Open House at its new premises, located at 161 Eglinton Avenue East, Suite 800, Toronto, Ontario M4P 1J5 on Friday, June 11 2004, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..

This year’s theme is: “Galing ng Pilipino sa Matatag na Republika.”

The Consulate General likewise enjoins all fellow kababayans to participate in several Independence-Day related activities organized by various Filipino-Canadian associations in the Greater Toronto Area, namely:

• June 6, Sunday–Independence Day celebration & street unveiling, Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians (Attn. Yolanda Ladines), 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Markham Civic Center Boulevard (off Highway 7)

• Exhibit of Philippine Artists Group, June 7-27, Nielson Community Centre, Etobicoke; June 13, Opening Ceremony at 2:00 p.m.

• June 10, Thursday–Flag-raising ceremony, Monina Lim-Serrano, Federation of Filipino-Canadians; 12:00 noon, Provincial Legislature Bldg., Queen’s Park

• June 12, Saturday–Flag-raising and Reception, National Congress of Filipino-Canadians, 8:30 a.m.; Pistahan sa Toronto, The Filipino Centre Toronto (Attn: Linda Javier), 12 noon to 11 p.m., Nathan Phillips Square; Flag-raising ceremony, Filipino Canadian Assn in Vaughan,12 noon to 3 p.m., Vaughan City Civic Centre;4th Joint PIDC-Kalayaan Gala Night, 7:00 p.m., International Plaza Hotel, 655 Dixon Road, Etobicoke; Filipino Heritage Functions, Filipino-Canadian Association in London & District, 6:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Hellenic Community Centre, 133 Southdale Road, London, Ontario

The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto welcomes the holding of other Independence Day-related activities and is prepared to assist in disseminating these activities.
