Victor Agaton, an active leader in the FCT Literacy Program, chaired by Mary Ann San Juan, has provided us the following information.

The Filipino Centre, Toronto will be re-opening the Homework Club program this March. The free tutoring program is for children in the community, Grades 1 to 8, who need assistance with their reading and writing.

Created in partnership with Frontier College, a national volunteer-based organization that promotes literacy, the program offers one-on-one tutorial sessions taught by trained literacy tutors. It was originally launched as a pilot project in the fall of 2003 and is now a permanent program at the Centre.
The tutorials will take place at the Ottawa Hall of the FCT on Saturday mornings from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Also, later this month, the FCT will be launching a Tagalog Language Program for those interested to learn our national language. Classes will be held at the Ottawa Hall on Sunday afternoons.
