The Board did not lose anytime in planning activities for the 2008 Mabuhay Philippines! Toronto Summer Festival, the largest celebration of Philippine heritage and culture in the country.

The 2008 Mabuhay Festival promises to be a spectacular event as a milestone in our history is celebrated, the 110th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

This year, PIDC greatly enhanced its activities throughout the year, most notably our Mabuhay Festival 2008 which will be bigger and better with a venue of over 100,000 square foot of space at a world class facility, The Metro Toronto Convention Centre!

PIDC will honour past and present heroes and will showcase the best local filipino talents to present our Philippine culture and heritage through dances, songs and visual arts, all in a festive atmosphere reminiscent of a Philippine Fiesta!

The multi-event celebration will be held in various venues starting in May 2008 and culminating in a grand festival and trade show on Saturday, July 19 2008 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, located in the heart of vibrant downtown Toronto, a thriving multicultural mosaic.

In 2008, PIDC will be working with the Philippine Consulate, Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto, ANCOP International Canada, Festivals and Events Ontario and numerous other Filipino-Canadian organizations in an effort to provide a platform for the celebration and recognition of immeasurable contributions of Filipinos to Canada and promote and help in the integration of our community into mainstream Canada.

Part of the proceeds from this year’s Mabuhay Festival will be donated to ANCOP International Canada, a registered non-profit charitable organization dedicated to eradicating poverty throughout the world. The PIDC donation is a continuing commitment of building a Gawad Kalinga Village in the disaster stricken region of Bicol, Philippines.
