Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Secretary of State for Multiculturalism Jason Kenney invited Jun Enverga, president of Philippine Independence Day Council,  Rafael Nebres, president of Philippine Chamber of Commerce Toronto, GK ANCOP president Ricky Cuenca and charity and community advocate Rosemer Enverga to a meeting recently. The meeting was set to reiterate to the Filipino community the strong commitment by the federal government to protect the rights and welfare of Filipino-Canadians. This will only be one of the high level meetings set between the government and the community leaders.

“Filipino-Canadians should support this government”  commented  Jun Enverga.   “The meeting is a very historical one, because this is the first time Toronto GTA Filipino Canadians were highly recognized by the prime minister’s office,” he added. One of the more noted support given by the government was the granting of permanent status to Juana Tejada. Without the discretionary power given by the current government to the Citizenship and Immigration Minister Diane Finley, the humanitarian decision would not have been possible.

Paeng Nebres indicated “His policies are all in line with what we are expecting for the benefit of all Filipino small business entrepreneurs”. What is great for Filipino-Canadians will be great for all Canadians.
