Catholic fundraiser receives $6,000

Archdiocesan Filipino Catholic Missions formerly Filipino Chaplaincy celebrated its first fundraiser at the Our Lady of Assumption Church Hall last December 14, 2008. The Fundraiser was a Christmas Party at the same time.

Father Ben Ebcas blessed the guests with his warm and touching message that evoked the true Filipino Christmas spirit, that Jesus is the reason for the season. The Sunday party was filled to capacity, notably composed of various Filipino organizations like the BLD, CFC, GK ANCOP, KofC, Block Rosary, Rosary Apostolate, Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation, BLDME23, Markham Federation, Virgen delos Remedios, St. Cecilia Choir, Daughters of Isabella, Lucena City Assoc. and PIDC .

Rosemer Albovias Enverga was the overall chair for the event that raised over $6,000 for AFCM. She was ably assisted by co-Chair Zeny Uy, Souvenir Program: Ely Catli, Sena Flores, Ticket Control : Ethel Stewart, Marita Enriquez, Food Committee: Bing Marasigan, Rebecca Cadawas, Zeny Crescini, Pat Quisao, Raffle : Gene Elamparo, Chat Aragoza, Ester Baldo, Gloria Guarin, Decorations: Mitz & Pors Canlas, Luzenia and Arnold Rubio, Danny & Almira Uy, Cash Bar: Rollie and Tess Bautista, Vic Ricafrente, Rey Saroca, Fidel de Guzman, Denny Sanchez, Luis Caragan, Logistics: Jimmy Marasigan, Jun Enverga, Lito Aragoza, Alex Guarin, Arturo Corpuz, Entertainer & DJ Eli Torrenueva.

As Enverga mentioned in her message, “We are fortunate that the Archdiocese of Toronto has given the Filipinos more than a church where information about our Catholic faith and various assistance is readily available the church will also serve as a home base of all Filipino traditions and religious practices. Let us all take the responsibility, let us all be united in supporting and taking care of our own Filipino Church!”
