Grand Winner: Genesis Anne Ruiz

The much anticipated event of this spring opened its doors to the hundreds waiting in line to watch and cheer for their favorite contestant for FILIPINOS GOT TALENT 2011. Hosted at the Square One Older Adults Centre last Saturday, April 9, the auditorium was jammed packed with a line up of aspiring divas, a drumming boy wonder, a classical-singing teen sensation, dancers and the next Martin Nieveras and Gary Vs. With a total of 14 finalists; there could only be one winner of the $1000 grand prize. The judges based each performance on their originality, audience impact and performance. It was a very close call but Genesis Anne Ruiz managed to get on top. Singing her own version of “Break Even” by the Script, she showed her unique talent and proved to the audience that this Filipina really got talent. 2nd place went out to Chris Rizzari with his amazing and enormously entertaining dance routine.

He ended the night with his banging, laugh-out-loud performance. 3rd place went to Tyler Twigger, who rocked the house with his drum solo and exibited his super fast drumming hands with the use of Litestix. The top 2 also get to perform in front of thousands during the GMA Pinoy Fiesta in June.

With the great success of this talent show, it left people wanting more. So watch out for Season 2 next spring as we bring out the new batch of Filipinos Got Talent.
