First, I am grateful for the opportunity to express my concern in light of the fact that I am personally involved in the latest calamity to hit the Philippines. Our family lives in Roxas City, Capiz, one of the hardest hit areas of this horrific storm.

But my conscience compels me to personally thank all the good, good people of Canada and the Niagara Region in particular for their immediate response to the needs of the many victims. Canadian compassion and generosity are second to none.

My heartfelt thanks and prayers for God╒s blessings an rewards goes to all who have sent aid with such selfless love and without the least hesitation. Thank you so much.

Please continue to support the victims of typhoon Haiyan with your prayers, thoughts and generous donations through various organizations.

Sincerely yours,

Arturo T. Viola
Former Lord Mayor
Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake
