Patrick Salonga: Design Marvel
TORONTO–A maverick of his generation, upcoming designer Patrick Salonga was born and raised in the streets of Manila. Salonga gained a local following among fashion adventurers with his aesthetic that expresses a disconnect to the mundane which he animates from the cross between Manila and Toronto’s street scene. Always ahead of the curve when it comes to eccentric style, eye for detail and setting the freshest trends. Without a doubt Patrick is one of the most nonpareil designers to come out of the Canada.
A recent graduate from Toronto’s Academy of Design, Salonga competed in several competitions one of which is Creativ festivals annual Creativ Catwalk competition where his team coveted the grand prize. He was also semi-finalist for Telio’s 2014 Canada’s Breakthrough Designer and Won the most creative collection award for his graduation collection.
Salonga has been fortunate to intern with top Toronto designers, Greta Constantine and has been involved with numerous projects during his internship: s/s 2013 runway show, a/w 2014 ready-to-wear launch party and recently Great Constantine’s s/s 2014 launch party.
A fashion prodigy Salonga’s passion for design has always been his edge ever since he was young. Back in his high school days Salonga always stood out from a crowd whether it is deconstructing a t-shirt or embellishing bowties with safety pins Salonga always used fashion for self expression. Now carrying these traits Salonga always brings something new that his audience looks forward to.
