Kalayaan Centre AGM election

KCCC hereby announces that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election of the organization will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Grand Hall of the Kalayaan Centre, 5225 Orbitor Drive, Suite 3, Mississauga.

Agenda for the day will be:

1. KCCC Annual Board Report

2. Treasurer’s Report (Financial statement for fiscal year ending in Sept. 30, 2013)

3. Election

Bonafide members are urged to come and exercise their rights of suffrage and participate in the affairs of the organization. Anyone interested in attending from the community is welcome to come and observe the proceedings. Fourteen (14) directors will be elected from which 7 officers will be chosen by those elected. The incumbent Kalayaan Chairman will sit with the board to make a total of 15 members of the board.

Commonly asked questions

Who are eligible to vote?

1. Current member organization or individuals who have paid their annual dues for the current year.

Each member association shall have two (2) voting representatives and all eligible voters must register with the COMELEC upon arrival. Representatives must be duly identified with a written authorization from an officer(s) of the association they represent.

2. KCCC members for at least 60 days prior to the election and have paid their annual membership fee. Previous KCCC members who renew their membership up to election day are allowed to vote.

3. Benefactors, sponsors or donors who have contributed at least $500 within the last five (5) years.

Is proxy voting allowed?

No proxy voting is allowed. One person; one vote.

Are there any requirements to run for office at KCCC?

A candidate for any position must be a member of good standing and must have been a member of the organization for at least 6 months prior to Feb. 23 (election day). He or she must also be present (in person) at KCCC on Feb. 23 to run for office and if nominated, must accept or agree to the nomination prior to the elections.

Are advance nominations allowed?

Advance nominations are allowed and can be submitted to the KCCC office or by sending an email to kccc@bellnet.ca.

Are past KFCO and KCCC chairs eligible to vote?

No, they are not eligible unless they meet the criteria of KCCC membership.
