PIDC Partners with Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc.

TORONTO–The Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) kicked off its annual search for Miss Philippines PIDC 2014 and Little Miss Philippines PIDC 2014 at Toronto City Hall on Sunday, February 23, 2014. This marks the start of PIDC’s search for its Ambassadress of Goodwill who will act as the organization’s representative in all of its events including “Salu-Salo sa Earl Bales,” The Mabuhay Cup Basketball Tournament, The Independence Day flag raising ceremony, The Independence Day Gala and the Mabuhay Philippines Festival. In addition, participants will also be involved and showcased in other multicultural events in which PIDC takes part in.

The pageant endeavours to provide an opportunity for young Filipinas in building their confidence, further their knowledge in Philippine heritage and culture and become a role model to the youth.

An exciting new addition to this year’s pageant is the fact that PIDC will also be the exclusive partner of Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. and will be selecting “Mutya ng Pilipinas Central Canada” sending an eligible participant to the Philippines to compete for the “Mutya ng Pilipinas” crown(s).

Mutya ng Pilipinas was established in 1965 in order to promote beauty and Philippine tourism.  Winners from this pageant have gone on to hold other prestigious titles such as Miss Asia Pacific, Miss Tourism International, Tourism Queen of the Year International and Beauty of the World.  To be eligible to compete in Mutya, candidates must have a minimum height of 5”5, must be of Filipino descent or at least 50% Filipino ancestry, be between the ages of 18 – 25 in the year 2014, single never been married and no offspring(s), with talent, of good moral character and have a pleasing personality.

To be eligible to join Miss Philippines PIDC, you must be of Filipino descent or at least 50% Filipino ancestry, be between the ages of 15 – 25 in the year 2014, single never been married and no offspring(s), with talent, of good moral character and have a pleasing personality.

To be eligible to join Little Miss Philippines, you must be of Filipino descent or at least 50% Filipino ancestry, be between the ages of 5 – 12 years old in the year 2014 and be with talent.
