Markham youth group performs all around T.O.
All over Toronto, the enthusiasm was electric! The overall tone of the crowd was excitement – the venue, food, smells, event, performances. You can sense that everyone is anticipating what’s to come as they all venture into different stalls, see different things, smell the wonderful food around them and the big stage right in the middle of the street at the intersection of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue.
As the crowd found seats under the blazing sun, the parents of the MFFC Youth Performing Arts Group gathered under the trees to prepare for a sizzling array of performances. Welcome to Taste of Asia (weekend of June 28 and 29, 2014). With a great big stage to match the crowd who were starting to gather, the MFFC group started their performance of Beatles medley. To the delight of the audience, the kids danced and sang their way into their hearts. The group also showcased the Singkil dance led by Sabrina Delas Alas, Joanna Torres and Joshua Hernandez. The audience especially loved the Tinikling with the colourful costumes and quick feet choreography.
A few days later, the MFFC YPAG was at another performance during the Canada Day celebrations at Milne Dam Conservation Park. This annual event was so well attended and the audience went wild as the MFFC YPAG performed popular hits of the Beatles. People sang, danced and cheered the Youth Group for their energy and talent. It was a great day enjoyed by the MFFC families and friends with the barbecues and ever flowing food brought by everyone. The evening was capped with fireworks over the park.
Members of the MFFC Youth Performing Arts Group were also invited to sing at the Filipino Fiesta in Brampton for their Philippine Independence Day celebrations. Singing and dancing contemporary hits, this group comprised of the senior members of the group.
Kudos to each of the Youth Performing Arts Group members for a great job during one of our busiest times of the year. Their ceaseless energy and outstanding performance are the trademarks of great artists. The parents of these children are the proudest during each performance and their endless support drives this organization to succeed all these years. The mentors of the program have sacrificed many things, to make sure this youth group always come out on top of their game and considered one of the best choral and performing groups in the local community.
The summer break is on for the group and a string of performances are being lined for the Fall and Winter performances. For those interested in joining the MFFC Youth Performing Arts Group, you may contact Karen Tan by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about audition dates.
