Mabuhay Festival Sept. 3-4 at Nathan Phillips Square
The MABUHAY PHILIPPINES FESTIVAL, is a signature event organized by the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC). It is set to deliver another extra ordinary addition to Toronto’s summer festival line-up. The theme for this year’s event is “SINING” means “ART.”
Expect to see the best of the best from our local Filipino-Canadian talents and cultural performances from Culture Philippines of Ontario (CPO). As well, don’t miss a Play from Carlos Bulosan theatre; Martial Arts demonstration; musical performances by different bands and much more surprises.
It is a two-day FREE non-stop all day entertainment to be held at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West. Nathan Phillips Square opens its door on Saturday, Sept. 3rd from 11 am – 10 pm through Sunday, Sept. 4th from 11 am – 8 pm. The highlight of the event is the much anticipated Fashion Show on Saturday, Sept.3rd at 7:00pm, featuring the intricate design collections of renowned designers, Aisha Penalosa, Jaki Penalosa from Iloilo City, Philippines; Kenneth Barlis from California and Merriam Goldberg. The feature model is Bea Rose Santiago, Miss International 2013.
Taste the authentic Philippine cuisine, browse through the variety of exhibitors and food vendors. Experience the Mabuhay Philippines “Community Parade of Fiestas”, a street parade featuring various Regions of the Philippines to be led by Philippines Consul General in Toronto Rosalita Prospero and PIDC President Norma Carpio, the leaders of community associations, business owners, Police Community Services Unit, PIDC media partners, PIDC beauties and revellers to be held on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 3:00pm, which is the culmination of this annual summer festival event.
The Mabuhay Philippines Festival is held to showcase the Arts, Culture, Heritage, Tourism and Talents of the Filipino people in Canada. PIDC is in partnership with TD, funded and supported by Celebrate Ontario.(sl)
