Filipino Canadian Ramon Estaris has won the Liberal Party nomination contest for Member of Provincial Parliament for York Centre, Ontario. His Facebook post on April 8:

It was with great pride and humility that earlier today I accepted the nomination to be the official Ontario Liberal Party candidate for York Centre.

To my supporters, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to support me in the nomination and help build a fairer Ontario! Together we paved the way for the first Filipino MPP to be elected on June 7!

To my volunteers, thank you for all the hard work you put in to our campaign. Every door you knocked and every neighbour you called meant everything to me! Today could not have happened without each and everyone of you!

To MPP Monte Kwinter, thank you for your 30+ years of service building our riding and our province. I am humbled to succeed you as our candidate and wish you best of luck on your retirement.

To Louise Russo and Magda Gondor, thank you both for putting your names forward. You both are extraordinary women who have done so much for York Centre and our province. I look forward to working along side you as we head into the general election campaign!

Although we have accomplished this major milestone together, there is still a long road ahead! Now more than ever I need your help to win on June 7!
