Virtual Concert unites Filipinos in diaspora for Leni-Kiko tandem
From across the globe, the Filipinos in diaspora brought together various Filipino musicians, artists, poets and local celebrities in the global concert in support of Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan’s ticket.
The idea of the virtual concert came about through casual conversations and interactions among kakampinks in Japan and Hongkong on social media that soon led to global participations of other “kakampinks” from different parts of the globe.
“It was just a conversation through text messages, zoom meetings, facebook, twitter and the whole idea of the virtual concept just naturally came about”, said Johanna Zulueta ,a volunteer and supporter for Leni and Kiko tandem in Japan.
“Marami po kasing mga events na ginagawa dito sa Japan at dahil usong-uso naman ang mga online activities why not invite other “kakampinks” from other countries to orgnaize an online concert for Leni and Kiko. At first it was only a collaboration effort between kakampinks in Japan and Hongkong pero lumaki siya when other global kakampink groups also joined,” said Rico Mayo Gonzales, a Leni-Kiko volunteer in Japan.
“Im very proud to be part of this historic event. Now is the best time for all Filipinos abroad to come together, to celebrate the strength of the voice of the diaspora through cultural performances that can unite the Filipinos abroad in support of Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan.” Gonzales added.
The 24 hour virtual concert dubbed as “Kay Leni at Kiko, Panalo All: Handog ng Global Filipinos Tropang Angat” featured contributions from eight (8) countries including cultural performances from Japan, US, Canada, Hongkong, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and Australia.
The virtual concert provided a platform for the various supporters of Leni and Kiko around the globe to connect and reinforce the message that working together is the only best possible way to help promote and campaign for Leni and Kiko tandem.
Streamyard platform broadcast the 24-hour virtual concert on social media and can be watched free starting at 5PM (Phil time) on April 23 in time for Leni Robredo’s birthday until 3PM (Phil time) April 24.
