5th Rizal GTA ommanders’ Ball

TORONTO–The Order of the Knights of Rizal in Greater Toronto Area held their 5th Commanders’ Ball at the Manoogian (Rembrandt) Banquet Hall in Scarborough on October 30, 2004.

The Chapter Commanders from the various Chapters in Greater Toronto Area were on hand with their Knights and Ladies to celebrate the occasion. They were headed by Canada Region Commander Sir Popoy Cana, KGCR and Deputy Region Commander for GTA and vicinities Sir Fran Pulumbarit, KGOR. Other dignitaries include the Philippine Consul General representative Mr. Manuel Gascon Jr. and Canada Region Advisers Sir Ka Miling Silverio, KGCR, Sir Chito Collantes, KGOR and Sir Joe Faminial, KGOR and Area Commanders Sir Joe Damasco, KCR and Sir George R. Poblete, KCR and the Host Dimasalang Chapter Commander Sir Ed Prillo, KCR.

Entertainment was furnished by the Golden Dancers of Sir Ben Ferrer of Toronto Chapter, Tae Kwan Do demonstration by Sensei Jim Torres & Ms. Collantes and songs by Rodney Ronquillo.
Plaques were awarded to the Knights involved with the local media, namely Sir Paul de la Cruz, Sir Rodel Ramos, Sir Jess Cabrias, Sir Joe Damasco, Sir Mogi Mogado, Sir Eddie Lee, Lady Rose Bustamante, Lady Lagring Bautista; and special Awards to Sir Lino Reyes, Sir Rene Calanglang, Sir George R. Poblete, Sir Ernie Reyes, Sir Jimmy & Lady Mila Lupango and Sir Ben & Lady Christy Ferrer.
Sir George R. Poblete, KCR headed the Executive Committee of this 5th Commanders’ Ball. His committee include Sir Popoy & Lady Ligaya Cana, Sir Fran & Lady Baby Pulumbarit, Sir Ed Prillo, Sir Nick & Lady Jovy Alo, Sir Joe & Elvie Damasco, Sir Jimmy & Lady Bing Marasigan, Sir Danny & Noemi Nepomuceno, Sir Andy Valenton, Lady Dolly Poblete, Lady Mila Lupango and Lady Precy Cerezo. Master of Ceremonies was Sir Willie Cantos and Lady Dr. Cecilia V. Poblete.

The Executive Committee greatly appreciate the major sponsors of the Commanders’ Ball, namely Dr. Vicky Santiago, Dr. Solon Guzman and CWSS Inc. and the several donors of door and special event prizes. Distribution of prizes was managed by Sir Andy Valenton, together with judges Sir Fr. Albert Macalipay and Advisers of the Knights of Rizal. The Guests in their lovely Filipina ternos and Barong Tagalogs, danced with the music of Sir Dante Gatchalian and song renditions by Rodney Ronquillo & Sir Tim Evangelista, and enjoyed the sumptuous food of Rembrandt Hall making this a memorable evening. Over 150 Knights, Ladies and their friends attended this dinner-dance.
