Himig launches CD
The Himig Pilipino Choral Ensemble, headed by its long-time musical director Cristina “Baby” Sanchez, is launching its first CD entitled “Ala-Ala” on Saturday, May 7, 2005 in a formal dinner party to be held at The Tower Garden Café and Banquet Hall, located on the 12th Floor of the Mississauga Civic Centre.
The CD is a collection of English, French, Filipino, and African songs performed by the group during its 23 year history. Some of the songs included have previously garnered Himig accolades from the CBC Choral Competition, the Kiwanis Music Festival and the Peel Music Festival.
The May 7th event is the biggest most fun-filled party ever organized by the Himig Board of Directors headed by its Chairman, Relly Policarpio, Vice-Chairman, Bong Chavez, Secretary, Maricris Lagakos, Treasurer, Cecille Arciga, and Publicity Convenors – Cynthia Bautista and Evelyn Cuevas. Tickets for the event are priced at $50 per person which includes a complimentary copy Himig’s CD, great food, dancing, live performances and other surprise numbers.
The group is currently busy rehearsing some of the songs included in the CD to be performed live during the launch. The present members include:
Soprano – Twinkie Fernando, Chyrell Samson, Risa Fernando, Pia Natividad and Cecille Jabier.
Alto – Tootsie delos Reyes, Lissa Vargas, and Cynthia Bautista.
Tenor – Darius Cirius, Armin , Cris Nava, Norman Antonio, and Rodney Ronquillo.
Bass – Bong Chavez, Bing Alba, and Relly Policarpio.
