A Maharlikan Lenten offering
A Maharlikan Lenten offering
The Knights of Columbus Maharlika Council No. 7488 of Scarborough will present “Reflections” on Good Friday, March 25, 2005 at St. Aidan Church, Finch and Warden Avenues, Scarborough at 11:00 a.m.
Patterned after the traditional “Siete Palabras” in the Philippines, this year’s version is written in layman English language for the benefit of the faithful from different cultural backgrounds. “Reflections” is a Good Friday meditation service with reflective commentaries, music and prayers.
On Easter Sunday the council will once again lead the parish community of St. Aidan in celebrating the Lord’s resurrection in an early morning procession at 7:30 a.m. This will be followed by the regular Sunday Mass at 9:00 a.m.
The council will also support “Pabasa,” a Filipino Holy Thursday tradition, on March 24, starting at 8:30 p.m. at St. Aidan chapel. At the vigil service through songs in Filipino, the focus will be on the agony and suffering of Jesus before He was to be crucified to the cross.
All of these offerings are free, open to the general public, and participated by other councils and organizations attached to the St. Aidan parish community.
The Knights of Columbus is a charitable organization of Catholic men dedicated to the service of faith, family, community and fraternity. The Maharlika is a Filipino council that only recently celebrated its twenty five years of service at a gala held in Crystal Fountain in Markham, Ontario.
