Global Pinoy Singing Idol Contest at Filipino Day at Wonderland
Global Pinoy Singing Idol Contest at Filipino Day at Wonderland
The elimination round for the Global Pinoy Singing Idol at Canada’s Wonderland was a big hit. The global aspect of the competition and the star quality being part of the judging criteria produced a group of extremely talented contestants with some of them coming from Winnipeg and Windsor. They came from different backgrounds; from students, young adults, to middle age parents whose love of music is so strong that they are willing to put their life on hold for the chance of winning a spot in a global competition.
Ten finalists were selected at Wonderland to move on to the regional finals to be held at the Cristo Rei parish on November 26. Two winners will be selected as Canada’s representative in the Global Pinoy Singing Idol in Manila.
The Canadian segment of the Global Pinoy Singing Idol is a social project of Cristo Rei Parish in Mississauga with proceeds intended to support the youth program of the parish and to build an ANCOP community village for the poor. ANCOP is an acronym for “Answering the Cry of the Poor”. This project is with the active participation of Couples for Christ Mississauga East and Culture Philippines of Ontario. The global segment of the Global Pinoy singing Idol is produced by ABS-CBN / DZMM Philippines.
