Canada is fortunate to be a place of great diversity.  The Federal Government recognizes individual uniqueness and honours the traditions and contributions of various nations that call this land their home.  It was therefore inevitable for the proclamation of May as Asian Heritage Month (“AHM”) to allow citizens to pay tribute to invaluable contributions of Asians towards the growth, prosperity and development of Canada.

The Canadian Multicultural Council of Asians in Ontario (“CMC”) is proud to be the leading organizer of AHM events throughout Ontario.  To kick off the month-long celebrations, CMC will be having an AHM Gala honouring “The Most Outstanding Asian-Canadians” on Sunday, May 1st at the Grand Baccus Banquet and Conference Centre, 2155 McNicoll Avenue.  CMC will pay tribute to outstanding individuals who are considered to be pioneers in the growth of their respective communities.  Filipino-Canadian Estring Aguinaldo, President of the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe is one of the honourees.

In addition, CMC is pleased to present “InspirASIANS”, a world class evening of performances from outstanding Canadian Artists of Asian Heritage who are breaking stereotype perceptions and winning international, critical acclaim.  The event will be held on Saturday, May 28th at the Japanese Community Cultural Centre.  World-renowned artists such as Chan Hon Goh, principal dancer with the National Ballet of Canada, dancer Denise Fujiwara, the percussion group  Kiyoshi Nagata Ensemble and one handed violinist Adrian Anantawan are just some of the performers for the evening.
