Rizal Day at Earl Bales Park
TORONTO–On June 19, Sunday, the Order of the Knights of Rizal of Metro Toronto and Vicinities Area Council headed by Sir Lapulapu Caña, KGCR, Canada Region Commander, Area and Chapter Commanders will join the rest of our “Kababayans” to commemorate the birth of our Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. The venue is at Earl Bales Park, along Bathurst St, between Wilson Ave. and Sheppard Ave. in North York. The bust of Rizal stands proudly overlooking a huge area of picnic ground, known as Luneta to most of Filipinos.
The Knights of Rizal which oversees the celebration at the park will have a lot of activities for that day. At about 11:00 pm, a wreath laying will start the program followed by inspirational talks by guests. The Philippine Consulate of Toronto headed by Consul General Alexander Mosquera and also a Sir Knight, will represent the Philippine government. Singing of the national anthem as well patriotic songs by the Clariz of Canada and the Kababaihang Rizalista, A “Tula” by Sir Camiling Silverio,KGCR and other presentations to honour Rizal.
