The Pillars stronger at 33
The Pillars, the Filipino-Canadian seniors association in the province of Ontario, is continuously strengthing its efforts to serve consistently its members with ages ranging from the 55 to 86 years old.
According to Frank Maralag, The Pillars president for several years, the association is existing and surviving on the help of the association members by following the practice of sharing.
The celebration of The Pillars was held recently at the Lynch Hall of the Our Lady of Parish Hall, 520 Shelbourne St., downtown Toronto, Ontario.
Rev. Fr. John Sullivan, S.J., parish priest of the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, delivered the invocation. He was very supportive of the seniors association. In fact, he offered the Lynch Hall of the church for the association activities every month.
The affair was highlighted by the presentation of the Ms. Pillars entourage which includes Ms. Genoveva Bilvar, Ms. Pillars 2012; Ms. Rosa Hilario, Ms. Peace 2012; and Ms. Irene de la Cruz, Ms. Love 2012.
The birthday celebrants for the month of August were also honored. They include: Ms. Babes Bilbar, Ms. Estela Bischof, Ms. Clarita Caracas, Ms. Cirila Cruz, Ms. Caridad Tomas, and Ms. Azun Ramos.
The coronation of the Ms. Pillars 2012 was done by Ms. Cynthia Zaragoza.
The chairperson of the event was Ms. Mila Lupango, The Pillars’ treasurer, while Ms. Caridad Tomas, vice president of The Pillars, delivered the closing remarks.
