Migrante BC is pleased to announce the Migrante Benefit Silent Art Auction. This will be held at the UBC Barber Learning Centre Café Gallery on Saturday, Oct 27 from 2 PM to 8 PM. It will highlight the artworks of multi-awarded artist Bert Monterona, self-taught artist Reynato Pablo, newcomer scenic artist Erwin Apilado, and other artists of the new PANCIT art collective (Philippine Artists Network for Community Integrative Transformation).
A small percent of the proceeds from each artwork sold will go to support the work of Migrante BC in the promotion and protection of migrants’ rights.
Migrante BC is a grassroots migrants’ community organization, led and run by Filipino migrants and immigrants. Among its services and programs, Migrante BC hosts workshops, runs migrants’ campaigns, and provides a support system for migrants, particularly for caregivers and temporary foreign workers. It also is working to strengthen the Filipino Action Network (FAN) for Temporary Workers’ Rights, an alliance of community groups, trade unions, and professional associations focused the issues of Filipino temporary foreign workers.
The public will be able to view the artworks and bid from 2 to 8 pm at which winning bidders can purchase and take home their works of art. The silent art auction will be accessible to those attending the Cross-Cultural Dialogue from 2 pm to 5 pm. as well as the Closing ceremony of the art exhibit. Light snacks will be available. Bert Monterona and the PANCIT artists will be on hand for conversation and questions. The organizers can only accept cash and/or cheques.
