Hunger, trauma, despair haunt ‘Pablo’ survivors
MANILA, Philippines – Aside from unrelenting hunger, survivors of Typhoon Pablo in Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental are also fending off the trauma of seeing loved ones and homes obliterated in the disaster.
Latest reports from the towns of Cateel, Baganga, and Boston in Davao Oriental, and in New Bataan in Compostela Valley reveal families continue to scramble for food as relief goods arrive from various sources.
ABS-CBN footage showed more people are begging on the highway leading to New Bataan, bearing placards crying out for help. One family of 9 was seen sharing a pack of noodles, an egg and 5 pieces of dried fish, which was their entire meal for the whole day.
