Bye bye 2012 – Hello basketball
Basketball still proves to be a Filipino’s favorite sport. Bayan basketball club’s house league came to an exciting finish on January 6th at Stefano Community Center (Sheppard and Weston road). Though 2012 came to an end many Filipino’s came out to play basketball instead of resting at home.
The result of the championship game for the master division (38 years old and above) came out as 53-49 for Team Lavina defeating Oklahoma by 4.
The game was close from start to finish but as the game came down to the end Team Lavina pulled away with free-throws and jump shots to win the championship.
“It’s fun watching even these seniors play. There is so much screaming from the stands it’s a lot of fun” said a spectator from the stands after the game.
The championship team’s Most Valuable Player went to Gilfred with 22 points and a honorable mention to the losing team’s MVP Kenny who had 19 points.
