PCCT trade show at Mabuhay Festival
FILIPINO-OWNED BUSINESSES cross the bridge anew, through the Philippine Chamber of Commerce- Toronto (PCCT), to merge with the mainstream sector as they participate in the PIDC Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Summer Festival, Saturday, August 20 this year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
At the “PCCT Trade Show at the PIDC Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Summer Festival,” members of the Filipino premier business organization will share around 67,000 sq. ft. of exhibit area with the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) on a day-long event of cultural entertainment, Filipino cuisine and everything Filipino at Canada’s largest convention centre.
Rafael Nebres, Chair of the PCCT Trade Show Committee, said, “This is the first time that the PCCT Trade Show is joining the Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Summer Festival, and we aim to expose member businesses to the mainstream society. The first two trade shows that the PCCT had during the last two years were aimed at familiarizing fellow members on one-another’s businesses, products and services, thus, it’s time to move farther.”
PCCT President Cora de la Cruz disclosed that more than half of the allocated booths at the venue have already been contracted by exhibitors. She said that booths will be provided to applicants on a “first come, first served” basis, stressing that no additional booths will be added after the allocation has been exhausted. Those interested must contact the PCCT office immediately at Tel. No. 416-850-4966.
In an interview with “Front Page Philippines,” airing on OMNI.2 Television, PIDC President Pempe Saavedra said the Mabuhay Festival is an annual event envisioned by its organizers to be something like a Caribana-like event in the future, where Filipinos from all parts of North America converge in Toronto for the gathering.
A statement from PIDC said that the appearance of American Idol finalist Jasmine Trias will highlight the many entertainment performances by, among others, Canadian Idol participant Mikey Bustos, Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe, Culture Philippines of Ontario, Karl “KO” Esguerra. With tickets at only $10.00 each (children under 10 free), the winner of the Mabuhay Metro Pop Singing Competition will also be decided.
