St. Jamestown lantern parade
St. Jamestown lantern parade
The Saint Jamestown annual lantern parade is slated on Dec. 3 (Saturday), 4:00 P.M. The parade’s assembly point is at the corner of Wellesley and Sherbourne Sts.
Gene Lara, a community leader in Toronto Center-Rosedale riding and the coordinator of the project, urged all Filipino organizations to bring in their lanterns in order to show to other Torontorians that the Philippine-made lanterns are very beautiful and full of creativity.
The parade will be followed by a dinner-dance at the gymnasium, 240 Wellesley East, sub-Basement. This will be a joint Christmas party of THE PILLARS, United Filipino Association of St. Jamestown, San Lorenzo Ruiz Congregation, and Silayan Community Centre.
In the meantime, former officers and members of the Silayan Community Centre are being invited to attend the 2005 Annual General Meeting on November 26 (Saturday). The incumbent officers and members of the board of direcotors of the center will report on their achievements and finances.
