Pitfield guest at Pillars 26th anniversary
Toronto Councillor Jane Pitfield of Ward 26 – Don Valley West will be the guest speaker during the 26th anniversary of The Pillars, the Filipino-Canadian seniors’ association in Toronto, on August 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Parish Hall of the Canadian Martyrs’ Church, 520 Plains Road, (East York) Toronto, Ontario (corner Plains Road and Wodbine Avenue).
She will be introduced by Frank Marallag, The Pillars president.
Councillor Pitfield founded the Concerned Citizens of Leaside in 1989. She was elected Trustee to the East York Board of Education in 1994. She joined in 1998 the Toronto City Council after winning the East York by-election and eventually was reelected in both the 2000 and again in 2003 municipal elections with an overwhelming 87 percent of the votes.
She was the founding Gala Chair of the annual Canadian Cross Power of Humanity Awards Dinner.
Councillor Pitfield is a graduate in business administration from the Queen’s University.
She has a string of experience in Sales from the Procter and Gamble. She is also a book author.
