KULTURA – The First Ever FiliKapisanan Philippine Centre is celebrating its first annual KULTURA Filipino Arts Festival, a day-long event, starting at 12 noon, at Bellevue Square Park and at the Kapisanan performance space at Philippine Centre (167 Augusta Avenue), adjacent to the park, in the heart of Kensington Market.
Organized by Kapisanan Philippine Centre in association with Carlos Bulosan Theatre and Digital Sweatshop Inc., KULTURA Festival will feature live music in the park, theatre performances, a shorts-film program, a visual art exhibit, spoken word poetry, and other cultural works. Plus food (of course!), children’s activities, information booths, and an arts & crafts market selling goods made by Filipino- Canadian artisans.
Confirmed performers include: Stop Die Resuscitate; Robotman; Kapisanan Balagtasan Poetry Slam (featuring Len Cervantes); Robotman; Arnis (Traditional Filipino Martial Arts) Presentation with Guru Jun; Asiansploitation Comedy Troupe; Minerva Records; Sounds Like Scieris.
