Journalist wins 10 awards at two Church press conventions
TORONTO–Marites Sison, a journalist from Manila who has moved to Toronto two years ago, has won ten journalism awards from two separate international and national church press conventions held last spring.
A Staff Writer of Anglican Journal, Sison won two first place awards at the Canadian Church Press (CCP) convention: one in the news story category (Primates call for breathing space): and for service journalism (Dreaming of a simple Christmas).
Her other awards are:
Award of Merit / Second Place (Associated Church Press): Newspaper feature article (Churches work to fill void in social services); News story, (Primates call for breathing space); Biographical profile (Church’s problem solver set to retire); Colour photo spread (China), with Saskia Rowley, co-author; Black and white photo spread (China) with Saskia Rowley.
Honorable Mention / Third Place
