Ramon Datol for Mayor in Richmond Hill
Ramon Datol for Mayor in Richmond Hill
Datol is no stranger to politics. He has learned, understood and imbibed the virtues of public service while working with Mayor Mel Lopez in Manila, the Philippines’ premiere city.
His work as a Philippine journalist has also given him valuable insights into the basics and workings of politics, having mingled with politicians of every rank – including the President – in his home country.
Datol intends to bring this stock experience to Richmond Hill that it may work out well for the town and its residents.
Among his immediate programs of government are:
• Fast solutions to the nagging traffic problems along Yonge St. from 16th Ave. up to Elgin Mills which means the implementation of a traffic blueprint that will benefit motorists and business owners along the congested part of the world’s longest street.
• The preservation of Richmond Hill landmarks that will keep the town’s identity as an admired “pristine community.” This will oppose the erection of any residential, condo or industrial edifice in places identified as historical and cultural areas such as the Bayview Hill Subdivision that is known as the largest subdivision in North America where houses are built in not less than 3,000 square meters; among others.
• The enforcement of peace and order initiatives that focuseon more police visibility on streets of the fast-progressing borough.
• The appointment of the first Monday of every month as “People’s Day,” when Richmond Hill residents may express their issues and concerns with the mayor;
• The establishment of working linkages with business leaders nationwide for possible economic partnerships, i.e. capital infusion and investments in Richmond Hill, which is viewed as “The Metropolis of Tomorrow.”
Datol also said he will review program policies on housing, parks renovation and beautification, street improvement, neighborhood relations, sports, arts and entertainment, youth and senior services, child care and other needs of the townsfolk.
