Mapa High 12th Int’l Reunion set July 26-29

Ontario Mapa Alumni and friends met on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Oakville residence of Carmelita Spittal, Class ’59 and President of the Ontario Chapter, for a progress update regarding preparations for the 12th International Reunion of Mapa High School Alumni Association of USA and Canada.

The July 26-29, 2007 event to be held at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario will be the second time the Ontario Chapter hosts the Mapa High School reunion. This first was held in 1997 at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel. For Reunion 2007, the Ontario Chapter and Class ’59 will be joint sponsors.

The 4-day event will include early registration on Thursday, July 26th for those who choose to arrive early, reception, karaoke singing and the traditional jam session on Friday, the 27th., a general meeting on Saturday morning July 28th,a formal dinner dance (“Putting on the Ritz”) will be held on Saturday evening at the Grand Ballroom of Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and a bus tour on Sunday, July 29th which will start with mass and a visit to a shrine, then tours of a distillery and area wineries followed by a picnic lunch at a winery.

Reunion organizers are confident this international reunion will be another wonderful opportunity for alumni, family and friends to get together and hopefully raise some funds for Mapa High School. Over the next few months, the organizing committee will continue working on the preparation and coordination of reunion events. As the goal is to have attendees pre-registered and tickets sold in advance, everyone is urged to order tickets on or before January 31st 2007 to take advantage of discounted price. No tickets will be sold at the door. Alumni support including sponsorship for the Reunion 2007 souvenir program is vital to the success of this affair.
