Featinians donate $1,000 to Reming victims
It’s the season of giving once again. And this time, the spirit come upon The Featineans Association of Toronto. The 17- year old university based socio-professional organization , at its Executive Board Meeting— cum— Christmas Reunion at the Imperial Restaurant, approved a $ 1,000 cash donation to the recent “Bagyong Reming” victims in the Philippines. The gesture is part of the Association’s continuing outreach initiative, which at this point, is directed towards those affected in the Bicol Region. Sometime ago, TFAT also donated modest funds, through the Philippine Consulate General, Toronto, to our kababayans in disaster areas in Leyte and Quezon provinces.
Collegially, the Featineans have likewise made preparations for their Annual New Year’s Eve Ball. The “meet – the new 2007” celebration, to be held at the Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, Clark Avenue, City of Vaughan on December 31, 2006 at 6:30 pm, is TFAT’s 10th seasonal festivity of its proud existence amid the Canadian environment.
Coordinating this year’s affair, as joint chairs, are: Nene Castillo, Ramon Cespedes, Tom Flores, Rudy Olay and Benny Puzon. Providing active support from the hierarchical leadership are, Founders: Tirso Balitian, Annie Buiza, Julio Buiza, Jr., & Tony San Juan; and Officers: Cesar Banda, Jeigh Flora, Armand Manalo, Albert Pabustan, Res Paje, Max Recaido, Nenita Recaido, Eric Serapio, Luz P. Sider and Violy Vilan. Hosting the celebratory program, is emcee, is Tony San Juan while Ron Carpio’s Florence Sound will supply the ballroom music. The promising Louper Home Catering of Florie & Michelle Silang is the evening’s dinner provider. In-house goodies for the revelry guests include: door prizes and raffle draw gifts, to be presented by Norma Guanzon, Elsa Olay & Rory Pabustan. Oliver Rey is the Association’s incumbent president.
Organized in July 1989, TFAT since has been an active partner and player within the Filipino Canadian Comunity in Ontario. The organization, with an active membership of 150 alumni and former students and staff from Feati University, is supporting an on-going scholarship project , an academic achievement recognition-reward scheme.
