Making Waves Festival at Harbourfront – Aug. 17-19
TORONTO–It’s three-in-one show in the Making Waves Festival of the Philippine Arts and Cultural Experience (PACE) headed by its president, Teresa Mendoza Torralba, which is slated on August 17 to August 19 at the famous Harbourfront Centre, Queens Way West, Toronto, showcasing Filipino artists and products coming from United States, Philippines, and Canada.
Invited to host some of the programs is Edu Manzano, one of the most talented, educated, and gifted movie actors in the Philippine movie industry.
Although in Canada, the production staff is preparing Rey Tolentino to host other stage presentations. Tolentino is the newly installed Executive Vice President of the Filipino Center Toronto. He is a well-listened to newscaster in the Philippines in the mid 70’s and until late 70’s while doing some newscasting chores for the Far East Broadcasting Corporation, Radio Station DZAS and the former Maharlika Broadcasting System’s DWIM-FM now known as Philippine Broadcasting System’s DWBR.
The inaugural project of the Philippine Arts and Cultural Experience which is “The Making Waves Festival” has the support of the Producttion Staff of The Pistahan Project in San Francisco, California headed by Al Perez which is on its 14th year of operation and Pistahan dates are scheduled on August 11 to August 12. In fact, Pistahan’s musical performers will be brought to Toronto to display their singing prowess to the Torontonians including the exhibitions of Philippine products from the Philippines, United States, and Canada.
The Philippine Arts and Cultural Experience (PACE) project which is “THE MAKING WAVES FESTIVAL” will be sending to the Pistahan in San Francisco, California, on August 11 to August 12, several singing talents from Toronto under the tutelage of Ramon Torralba, the musical director of the project and who was an original member of the famous HOTDOG BAND in the Philippines in the 70’s.
The singing group being prepared to be sent to San Francisco, California, is the singing sensation FOR U which is composed of Emilio Vieira, Aileen Muan, Alyssa Salamat, and Andres Sierra. They can sing from the oldies tunes to the modern music. The group can also go from pop music to standard. The production will announce later the other singers from Toronto to perform at Pistahan.
Pistahan Production Staff is still coordinating with the Philippine, United States, and Canadian governments for their support to the “The Making Waves Festival” which will be highlighted by a fluvial procession honoring the Bicol Region’s Patron Saint, the miraculous, Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
