Buying a home is one of the biggest emotional and financial decisions one could ever make, so it is important to prepare yourself financially and be well-equipped with all the information to make a sound decision. It always is a good idea. Being prepared is the key. There are a lot things involved or to consider when buying a home. You may also want to weigh in the advantages and disadvantages of buying a home by doing a checklist or listing down the advantages and disadvantages for you and your family. Here are some of the advantages:
Freedom–You can alter, redecorate, renovate, decorate, paint anything in the home that meets your and your family’s personal tastes. Financial/Investments–Your home is also your asset, when housing prices increase in your neighborhood, your house’s market value also increase The pride of Ownership–A sense of stability, having a place you can call your own
The disavantages are:
Responsibilty–Remember, as a homeowner you are responsible for all the maintenance needs, snow shovelling, repairs, etc. and requires time, money and lots of effort.
Stress–This stress can be financial, especially meeting regular mortgage payments for a certain period of time, utility bills, property taxes, etc.
If you could think of all other advantages and disadvantages for you and for your family, list them all down and talk to each family member for the final decision. If positive things outweigh the negative then it’s for you to do your research.
