Brillantes guest at Miss Philippines in Hamilton

His Excellency, Ambassador Jose (Chito) S. Brillantes, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the coronation of the Miss Philippines 2008 Pageant which will be held at the Carmen Banquet and Convention Center in Hamilton, Ontario.

According to Ruby Sarmiento Amog, the chairperson of the event and a member of the board of directors of the Hamilton Filipino Community Centre, the aim of the pageant is to riase fund for the maintenance and the operation Centre.

Ambassador Brillantes was an undersecretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs incharge of the migrant workers. He was elected vice chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Protedtion of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families.

He was former Secretary if Labor and Employment and former Undersecretary of Labor for Employment Promotion and Manpower Development.

Mr. Brilantes was a student leader and consistent honor student while taking-up law at the Ateneo de Manila College of Law. He was a former city councilor of Manila.
He was a bar topnotcher.
