Carassauga festival of cultures
MISSISSAUGA–Carassauga, one of Ontario’s largest annual Festival of Cultures is celebrating its 23rd anniversary this May featuring 23 cultural pavilions, representing over 40 countries, all showcasing their unique cultures.
Carassauga Festival gives Mississauga citizen groups from different origins a venue to promote public awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of their cultures and cultural expressions. Over three fun-filled days, visitors will have the opportunity to span the globe without leaving the city. Each pavilion depicts the culture of their country of origin through food, music, art, dance, fashion, historical displays and vendors, with a focus on celebrating cultural diversity.
“I invite you to take a tour of the world by visiting the various pavilions on these three days, which are dedicated to embracing and understanding multiculturalism in Mississauga.”, says Jack Prazeres, 2008 Carassauga Festival Chairperson, “Participate in the festivities: bring out both the Canadian flag and that of your indigenous country, and make this weekend, the largest cultural event celebration in the world.”
