The Rebirth of Rembrandt Banquet Halls
Rembrandt Banquet Halls, after being missed for almost two years as a favourite venue for large social and community events in Toronto, has finally opened its doors in a new location.
It was not only the move to a new address and the major renovations to convert what was once a huge fitness centre into a fully equipped, grand party function place, that hampered Rembrandt’s business operations for almost two years. It was also the unexpected onslaught of COVID-19, with all its restrictions.
However, last Saturday, October 23, 2021, Rembrandt opened its doors to a limited number of family and friends for the formal blessing ceremonies, signalling the start of full operations in the modern-designed and furnished interiors in the coming days.
The event was seen as a great blessing for husband and wife proprietors, Maria and Jimmy Geroche, who had operated the old Rembrandt Banquet Halls at its old Progress Ave. location for 16 successful years.
“I thank the Lord for seeing us through this,” says Maria. “It was so trying, I just don’t know how we got to this point,” proudly referring to the sprawling 18,000 square feet new-look interiors, partly seen in their website rembrandtbanquethalls.ca Maria principally credits her husband, Jimmie, an architect, for all the hard work with the design and actual renovations.
“It was a blessing that we found this new location on 10 Milner Business Court, which is only a minute away from our old place,” Maria says. This way, she hopes to keep and provide service to her loyal clientele of 15 years, which she believes would not have been possible if the new Rembrandt were to be located farther away.– M.A. Garcia
