Describing the Toronto Caravan last November 14th, Ontario old-timer Oswald P. Magno wrote:
“In my more than 50 years observing Philippine politics, I’ve never seen such spontaneity and eagerness on the part of Filipino expats to show their support for a presidential candidate as was displayed in the Toronto caravan and other Canadian cities. The OFW support for Duterte in 2016 pales in comparison to the hope-inspired multi-city caravans and gatherings that have so far been held by Pinoys from all walks of life for Leni Robredo.”
Robredo supporters are rooting for her noting that she is a woman of integrity and principles, an effective, honest, competent servant leader with an impressive track record as a congresswoman or as the current Vice-President.
An estimated 66 million Filipinos will troop to the polls come May 9, 2022 national elections. It is reported that some 1.6 million overseas Filipinos have so far registered for absentee voting. Political observers consider the upcoming 2022 elections as among the most crucial in recent years.
