The Philippine Reporter turns over latest issues to Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library
On the occasion of its 33rd anniversary in 2022, The Philippine Reporter on March 9 turned over to Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library copies of its latest print issues to update the latter’s collection. Receiving the copies on behalf of the Fisher Library are Leora Bromberg, acquisitions specialist and David Fernandez, rare book librarian. Representing The Reporter are Mila Astorga-Garcia, managing editor, Michelle Chermaine Ramos, writer, and Serena G. De Vera.
The Philippine Reporter has been catalogued and archived by the prestigious library since almost 10 years ago, allowing researchers and the public to access print copies of the paper, starting from its first issue published in March 1989. The Reporter has been described as the paper that reflects the life and times of Filipinos in Canada.
Loryl McDonald, associate chief librarian for special collections, in a letter thanking The Reporter for the “generous contribution,” said “The Fisher Library could not have built up its varied and fine collections without our friends. We are most grateful.”
