Zamboanga Hermosa’s 18th anniversary
TORONTO–It will start with a 9-day novena, beginning October 4, to take place at different homes, wherever the image of Nuestra Sra. Del Pilar will be requested to stay. A special mass in her honour will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 3 p.m., at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 4070 Central Parkway East, Mississauga. It will be followed with a potluck merienda-sena to be held in the church hall. All Zamboangueños are invited to attend with their families and friends. The following week, on October 23 at 6:30 p.m., a costume ball will mark Zamboanga Hermosa Canada’s 18th anniversary. It will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Banquet Hall on 76 Overlea Blvd. (Don Mills).
Overall chairperson of the event is Aida Elago-D’Orazio. Floridel Arañez-Manuel is co-chair. Proceeds from the dinner dance will help provide the educational funding for the ZHC’s seven scholars in Zamboanga City and Basilan. Early this year, the association donated four large boxes of medicines and medical supplies to Basilan in partnership with the Health Partners International of Canada, a charitable, Canadian medical relief organization dedicated to providing medical aid to peoples of the developing world.
