Featineans elect officers
TORONTO–The Featinean Association of Toronto (TFAT) has selected a new set of officers and directors for the term 2004-2005 at its yearly collegial get-together and picnic held at the Thompson Memorial Park in Scarborough on June 20, 2004. The members of the 15-year old alumni association have elected the nineteen members of the executive directorate composed of the following: Oliver Rey, President; Nene Castillo, 1st Vice-President; Ron Carpio, 2nd Vice-President; Res Paje-Banda, Secretary; Luz P. Sider, Assistant Secretary; Nenita Recaido, Treasurer; Greg Gravador, Assistant Treasurer; Tirso Balitian, Business Manager; Rudy Olay, Auditor; and Benigno Puzon, PRO. The directors are: Frank Amurao, Cesar Banda, Ric Lucero, Armando Manalo, Leo Mariano, Albert Pabustan, Max Recaido, Eric Serapio and Tony San Juan.
Julio Buiza, Jr., founding President and now, Director Emeritus of the association conducted the election proceedings and officially proclaimed the winners, as well. To round off in welcoming the onset of summer, Bert and Rory Pabustan took charge of the games and contests for the young and adults alike. The outgoing President, Frank Amurao and his wife, Auring, assisted by Annie Buiza, Nene Castillo, Res Paje-Banda, Cesar Banda, Tirso Balitian, Ric Lucero, Luz Sider, Nenita Recaido, Joy San Juan and other officers and their respective spouses, excellently planned and coordinated the annual “salo-salo ng kapanilya” on the park.
As a perfunctory gesture and true to its outreach commitment, the Featineans approved a total financial donation of $1,500 Cdn to the John XXIII Catholic Church; Convenant House; Multiple Sclerosis Society; Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe; and the Street Kids (Manila) of Msgr. D. Nebres. TFAT, is also operating a scholarship project and has funded 4 full-time scholars at its alma mater – Feati University Manila. In sum, the organization has to date granted modestly more than $12,000 Cdn to charity organizations in the Philippines and in Canada.
