The Pillars is 24 years old
TORONTO–The Pillars, an association of Filipinos living in Toronto and other cities and towns in the province of Ontario will be celebrating its 24th foundation anniversary on August 21, Saturday, 7:00 p.m., at the parish Hall of the Canadian Martyrs Church, Plains Road and Woodbine.
Ms. Conchita Tan Willman, the founder of Mentors Canada will be the guest speaker. Francisco Marallag, president of The Pillars, said that the affair will be highligted by the coronation of Ms. Edith Rodas as Mrs. Pillars. Ms. Rodas is the wife of Filipino community leader in St. Jamestown, Ed Rodas.
Others who will be crowned include Ms. Lydia Evangelista as Mrs. Love, and Ms. Leah Garcia as Mrs. Peace.
Aside from Mr. Marallag, the other officers of The Pillars are Tim Barrientos, vice president; Ms. Caridad Bercasio, secretary; Ms.Zenaida Lopez, treasurer; and Ms. Mila Lopango, auditor.
The board of directors are Ms. Nena Marallag, Tony Niel, and Andres Cervantes. The board of advisers include Bob Filart, Ms. Rose Bustamante, and Ms. Purita Barrientos.
