Inter-school picnic draws 16 alumni
TORONTO–It’s time once again for the annual inter-school picnic. This year’s gathering of alumni associations promises to be an even bigger event as 5 more schools (Mapua, PUP, PWU, San Beda and St. Mary’s University) have signed up to bring the total number of participants to 16. The others are: Adamson, Ateneo, CEU, CPU, FEU, La Salle, Silliman, St. Scholastica, UE, UP and UST.
Summerfest was conceived and organized to foster a sense of community among Philippine alumni organizations. Now in its third year, Summerfest gives an opportunity to renew acquaintances with fellow association members and to meet new friends and develop ties with other alumni groups.
The full day event will be held on Sunday July 11, from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Mississauga Valley Community Centre Park.
Although some areas are reserved for games and sports events, there is ample room for everyone, as the organizers have again reserved the entire park in anticipation of the record attendance. And of course, those who come to the park early get to choose the best spot. Participants are reminded to put up their school banner to designate their chosen spot.
This year’s Summerfest will have the same format as the previous years’: buffet tables prepared by each school, a program featuring song, dance and entertainment numbers, and the afternoon games and sports events. Each school will field a team to compete in the games and sports events. At stake is the roving championship trophy currently held by CEU. Take notice other teams, CEU has vowed to repeat as champs. Special games for kids are also planned.
