Filipinos in the Arts: Upcoming Events

• Fri. Nov. 6 starting at 10pm- Jump Off Radio 1610 AM Launch Party at Chic Lounge (214 King St W, Toronto). Jump Off Radio is Canada’s only Filipino Hip Hop and R&B radio show and the event includes performances from this community. Check the facebook event for details on the $10 advance tickets.

• Sat. Nov. 7 from 8pm to 10pm- Screening of the horror film, Ang Pamana: The Inheritance at the Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts & Culture (167 Augusta Ave, Toronto). Admission is $10 and the director of the “super natural thriller drawing from age-old Filipino folklore,” Romeo Candido, will be in attendance.

• Nov. 11 to 15- 13th Annual Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival held at various venues. The festival will be showcasing Filipino films, Fruit Fly (7:30pm) and Yanggaw (10:00pm), at the Innis Town Hall on Nov. 12. Tickets are available in advance at www.totix.com and during the event at the festival box office at Innis College Lobby (2 Sussex Ave).
