I don’t know him really…

But here is my take:

1.The LCP program is exempted in the four-year limit. That has been clarified already by CIC that there will be an operational directive for the exemption of the LCP participants.

2. He failed to mention that the LCP participants would have to fulfill an equivalent of 3900 hours of which an equivalent of 10% of that could be earned through overtime, thus reducing the time they are able to apply as Landed Immigrant.

3. He failed to mention that the Conservative Government introduced a new visa class called the Canada Experience Class (similar to the LCP is structure) for students and Temporary Skilled Workers to transition towards becoming a landed immigrant after two years…thus reducing the time for them to apply as permanent resident…the regular route would now take them 5 years…

4. The Liberal Government in the time of Chretien reduced the admission of immigrants by 32% during the recession in the 1990’s…the Conservative Government presided over a global recession BUT kept on increasing the number of immigrants…on average about 8% yearly…and last year admitted over 281,000 immigrants…the highest ever in 61 years…

5. The average wait time of parents and grandparents (FC4 immigrant class) to be sponsored over under the Liberal Government for 13 years is 64 months….in 5 years of Conservative minority government the average wait time has been reduce to 58 months.

6. Liberal froze funding for immigrant settlement services for 13 years…Conservatives tripled it…

7. Liberals slashed family immigraiont by 38%, creating a backlog of 160,000 family class sponsroship…including 108,000 for the parent/granparent category…

8. Liberal failed to address the broken asylun system…Conservatives are introducing sweeping reforms through the Balanced Refugee Reform Act while cracking down on human smuggling…

I can continue on and on and on…

I guess, Mr. Rivera is such an expert in immigration issues that he doesn’t need to quote facts but prefer to ramble on Liberal and fear based propaganda!
