Batangueños social event

Batangueños social event

The Batangas Provincial Association of Canada or known as ‘BPAC’ will hold a Dinner and Dance Event on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011 at the Maple Community Centre, 10190 Keele Street, Maple, Ontario.

During the previous three years, the association concentrated on successful golf tournaments as the main source of funding to meet its yearly charitable goals. This year’s Dinner and Dance will complement our fund raising activities in order to enhance our ability to meet additional commitments in helping poor families in the Province of Batangas.

The current BPAC Governor, Jimmy Marasigan stated that for many years the association raised money to help build classrooms at the primary school level, provided assistance for children with serious illness and gave financial assistance to towns in Batangas devastated by storm and other calamities. This year’s project will include a scholarship project for post secondary students in pursuing a community college degree giving preference to poor families. In addition to good grades, deserving recipients shall also possess a strong commitment to volunteering in their community, participating in extra-curricular activities and investing their time into character building programs.

Batangas is a first class province with a population of almost 2 million and the people have relatively good access to water supply, telecommunications, transport and electricity as compared with other regions in the country. However, there are still remote areas of the province requiring fundamental infrastructures which has a direct impact on the overall regional economic growth.

With the local community support, sponsors, donors and yearly fund raising, the officers and directors of the BPAC are committed to participate in enhancing the livelihood of children and their families within the remote communities and local barangays through assistance in pursuing basic education including post secondary technical, vocational careers of deserving recipients.

The association has been in existence for more than a decade now and has been instrumental in granting financial assistance to needy organizations of Batangas municipalities, constructing infrastructures such as classrooms and providing other relief assistance to victims of floods and typhoons in the Philippines.
