The UST Alumni Association of Ontario hosted a Gala to commemorate the 400th year anniversary of the founding of their Alma Mater October 29th at the Plaza Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hilton Airport Hotel. The formal affair lent an ambiance of “Pomp and Circumstance” highlighted by the Parade of the Banners of the different Colleges and Faculties of the university as “Ako ay Tomasino” was sung by Norma Gatchalian Layno, current president of USTAAO.

Rev. Fr. Pompeyo de Mesa , Regent of the Faculty of Pharmacy who flew from Manila was the inspirational speaker. Chairman of the Board and past president Priscilla Gabut Cayford presented the Posthumous Recognition Award for Jorge Joaquin, founding member and Chairman of the Board of USTAAO to his widow Cynthia Cachola Joaquin. Emcees Winnie Skafte and Glenn Uy conducted the flow of the much orchestrated program to the correct tone.

The very spacious ballroom lit by brilliant chandeliers was a delight to the many celebrants who danced the night away. Many took advantage of the photo shoots to capture their glamour for a keepsake of a memorable evening.

The USTAAO organizing committee headed by event chairperson Mena Uy acknowledges the generosity of patrons and donors and calls on more alumni in Ontario to join the association.
