2 law experts think SC can intervene in CJ trial
MANILA, Philippines – For some senator-judges in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona, the Supreme Court may have encroached into the powers of the impeachment court when it issued a temporary restraining order on the presentation of Corona’s dollar accounts.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano said the SC should not be interfering in the trial. “The Supreme Court took us one step closer to a constitutional crisis. But it depends on the Senate whether there will be a crisis or not.”
