Fil-Can educators to hold workshop

CALLING PH-EDUCATED TEACHERS

With its continued interest and meaningful purpose of enriching the career search skills as well as enhancing the employment capabilities of Filipino Canadian educators who are professionally certified by the Ontario College of Teachers, the Philippine Teachers Association of Canada (PTAC) is conducting  a one-day intensive workshop on April 8, 2012 (Sunday) at 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. at Time Zone Restaurant, Bathurst Street, North York, Toronto, Ontario.

The 5-hour session will focus on topics such  as : 1) Resume and Cover-Letter Writing: Format, Contents, Common Mistakes, Critique; 2) Interview Process and Mock Interview: Typical Questions and Responding to Questions; 3) Networking Process : Sourcing and Building Up Strategies; and 4) Career Building: Opportunities and Alternatives .

Invited presenters and facilitators include experienced nd promising Filipino-Canadian teachers and education practitioners from Ontario schools and colleges.Prospective attendees are requested to bring in their respective Resumes / Curriculum Vita.

The six-year old, 105- member organization is comprised mostly of Ontario College of Teachers( OCT) – certified professionals who are current or retired Filipino – Canadian teachers in Ontario schools and colleges and/ or are former teachers in the Philippines.

PTAC’s 2011-2013 Executive Board is headed by President Tony A. San Juan and the following officers and directors: Rose Cruz, Boni Curutan, Bernadette Gapuz, Pet Collantes, Mila Curutan, Jesse Panem, Mel Tumamao, Jr., Maricon Bernasor, Gigi Nicholas, Grace Avila, Sam Posadas, Rose Apilado, Elena Aguilar, Red Andres, Joan Ang, Sheng Baoit, Ruvy Bendoy, Mary Rose Cacdac, Norman Daroy, Etta Del Rosario, Cielito Drapeza, Venus Geraneo, Perly Laganas and Erlyn Simanero.

Interested PTAC members and other parties are encouraged, on first come, first served basis, to contact and register with PTAC secretary Bernadette Gapuz, at: bgapuz@ptacanada.org and Maricon Bernasor, asst.secretary, mbernasor@yahoo.com. A registration fee may be charged to cover for meal and seminar materials costs.
