  1. As a past Miss CHS (1979), I was saddened to learn that the talnet portion of the competition is being eliminated. There is so much more to beauty than appearances. It was an honor to be crowned Miss CHS. I competed with other young women who were certainly more beautiful than me but when the crown was placed on my head, I was proud of the person I was becoming. Miss CHS embodied acheivement, intelligence and true beauty the kind of beauty that is found both inside and out. It's one thing to walk around a stage as an object to be judged. It's a totally different thing to overcome your fears and perform a talnet on a stage to be judged. The tradition of Miss CHS should be continued in the spirit it was conceived. If the crown of Miss CHS is to have meaning, then it needs to be based on more than physical beauty.Martee Leonard Rush
